The morning found Lance Mackey still in Takotna. Mackey took his mandatory 24 hours rest and is still being reported in 5th place. He is averaging almost a full 2 MPH faster then the leaders. The 2 teams in the lead, Martin Buser and Jim Laner respectively, have not taken there 24 hour rest. The bad news is Jeff King took his rest also.
There is still another mandatory 8 hour rest ahead. Mackey is looking good and his team is unbelievably strong. He still has all 16 dogs and they appear to be running as a team.
There is still a long way to go but Mackey and his team are looking great. Last report Mackey was still in Ophir.
