Commercial Fishing Boat Sank In NJ

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — At least one person is dead and four missing after a fishing boat sank off the New Jersey coast, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard plucked three people from the ocean Tuesday morning about 65 miles off the southern coast.

Senior Petty Officer Stephen Carleton said one was dead, another unresponsive and a third conscious and alert.

Helicopters are searching for four others who were on board the ship.

Rescuers received a transmission from an emergency radio beacon around 7:30 a.m. and launched helicopters.

Officials say the boat was the 71-foot long Lady Mary and is based in Cape May.
