Why Martin Luther King Was Republican

This story should be mailed to every black American and children should be forced to read it in school. I have no idea why this information is not common knowledge. I know it is lengthy but it is well worth the read.

It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. In that era, almost all black Americans were Republicans. Why? From its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. And as one pundit so succinctly stated, the Democrat Party is as it always has been, the party of the four S's: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism.

It was the Democrats who fought to keep blacks in slavery and passed the discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws. The Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan to lynch and terrorize blacks. The Democrats fought to prevent the passage of every civil rights law beginning with the civil rights laws of the 1860s, and continuing with the civil rights laws of the 1950s and 1960s.

During the civil rights era of the 1960s, Dr. King was fighting the Democrats who stood in the school house doors, turned skin-burning fire hoses on blacks and let loose vicious dogs. It was Republican President Dwight Eisenhower who pushed to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and sent troops to Arkansas to desegregate schools. President Eisenhower also appointed Chief Justice Earl Warren to the U.S. Supreme Court, which resulted in the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision ending school segregation. Much is made of Democrat President Harry Truman's issuing an Executive Order in 1948 to desegregate the military. Not mentioned is the fact that it was Eisenhower who actually took action to effectively end segregation in the military.

Democrat President John F. Kennedy is lauded as a proponent of civil rights. However, Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Act while he was a senator, as did Democrat Sen. Al Gore Sr. And after he became President, Kennedy was opposed to the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King that was organized by A. Phillip Randolph, who was a black Republican. President Kennedy, through his brother Atty. Gen. Robert Kennedy, had Dr. King wiretapped and investigated by the FBI on suspicion of being a Communist in order to undermine Dr. King.

In March of 1968, while referring to Dr. King's leaving Memphis, Tenn., after riots broke out where a teenager was killed, Democrat Sen. Robert Byrd (W.Va.), a former member of the Ku Klux Klan, called Dr. King a "trouble-maker" who starts trouble, but runs like a coward after trouble is ignited. A few weeks later, Dr. King returned to Memphis and was assassinated on April 4, 1968.

Given the circumstances of that era, it is understandable why Dr. King was a Republican. It was the Republicans who fought to free blacks from slavery and amended the Constitution to grant blacks freedom (13th Amendment), citizenship (14th Amendment) and the right to vote (15th Amendment). Republicans passed the civil rights laws of the 1860s, including the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and the Reconstruction Act of 1867 that was designed to establish a new government system in the Democrat-controlled South, one that was fair to blacks. Republicans also started the NAACP and affirmative action with Republican President Richard Nixon's 1969 Philadelphia Plan (crafted by black Republican Art Fletcher) that set the nation's fist goals and timetables. Although affirmative action now has been turned by the Democrats into an unfair quota system, affirmative action was begun by Nixon to counter the harm caused to blacks when Democrat President Woodrow Wilson in 1912 kicked all of the blacks out of federal government jobs.

Few black Americans know that it was Republicans who founded the Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Unknown also is the fact that Republican Sen. Everett Dirksen from Illinois was key to the passage of civil rights legislation in 1957, 1960, 1964 and 1965. Not mentioned in recent media stories about extension of the 1965 Voting Rights Act is the fact that Dirksen wrote the language for the bill. Dirksen also crafted the language for the Civil Rights Act of 1968 which prohibited discrimination in housing. President Lyndon Johnson could not have achieved passage of civil rights legislation without the support of Republicans.

Critics of Republican Sen. Barry Goldwater, who ran for President against Johnson in 1964, ignore the fact that Goldwater wanted to force the Democrats in the South to stop passing discriminatory laws and thus end the need to continuously enact federal civil rights legislation.

Those who wrongly criticize Goldwater also ignore the fact that Johnson, in his 4,500 State of the Union Address delivered on Jan. 4, 1965, mentioned scores of topics for federal action, but only 35 words were devoted to civil rights. He did not mention one word about voting rights. Then in 1967, showing his anger with Dr. King's protest against the Vietnam War, Johnson referred to Dr. King as "that Nigger preacher."

Contrary to the false assertions by Democrats, the racist "Dixiecrats" did not all migrate to the Republican Party. "Dixiecrats" declared that they would rather vote for a "yellow dog" than vote for a Republican because the Republican Party was know as the party for blacks. Today, some of those "Dixiecrats" continue their political careers as Democrats, including Robert Byrd, who is well known for having been a "Keagle" in the Ku Klux Klan.

Another former "Dixiecrat" is former Democrat Sen. Ernest Hollings, who put up the Confederate flag over the state Capitol when he was the governor of South Carolina. There was no public outcry when Democrat Sen. Christopher Dodd praised Byrd as someone who would have been "a great senator for any moment," including the Civil War. Yet Democrats denounced then-Senate GOP leader Trent Lott for his remarks about Sen. Strom Thurmond (R.-S.C.). Thurmond was never in the Ku Klux Klan and defended blacks against lynching and the discriminatory poll taxes imposed on blacks by Democrats. If Byrd and Thurmond were alive during the Civil War, and Byrd had his way, Thurmond would have been lynched.

The 30-year odyssey of the South switching to the Republican Party began in the 1970s with President Richard Nixon's "Southern Strategy," which was an effort on the part of Nixon to get Christians in the South to stop voting for Democrats who did not share their values and were still discriminating against their fellow Christians who happened to be black. Georgia did not switch until 2002, and some Southern states, including Louisiana, are still controlled by Democrats.

Today, Democrats, in pursuit of their socialist agenda, are fighting to keep blacks poor, angry and voting for Democrats. Examples of how egregiously Democrats act to keep blacks in poverty are numerous.

After wrongly convincing black Americans that a minimum wage increase was a good thing, the Democrats on August 3 kept their promise and killed the minimum wage bill passed by House Republicans on July 29. The blockage of the minimum wage bill was the second time in as many years that Democrats stuck a legislative finger in the eye of black Americans. Senate Democrats on April 1, 2004, blocked passage of a bill to renew the 1996 welfare reform law that was pushed by Republicans and vetoed twice by President Clinton before he finally signed it. Since the welfare reform law expired in September 2002, Congress had passed six extensions, and the latest expired on June 30, 2004. Opposed by the Democrats are school choice opportunity scholarships that would help black children get out of failing schools and Social Security reform, even though blacks on average lose $10,000 in the current system because of a shorter life expectancy than whites (72.2 years for blacks vs. 77.5 years for whites).

Democrats have been running our inner-cities for the past 30 to 40 years, and blacks are still complaining about the same problems. More than $7 trillion dollars have been spent on poverty programs since Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty with little, if any, impact on poverty. Diabolically, every election cycle, Democrats blame Republicans for the deplorable conditions in the inner-cities, then incite blacks to cast a protest vote against Republicans.

In order to break the Democrats' stranglehold on the black vote and free black Americans from the Democrat Party's economic plantation, we must shed the light of truth on the Democrats. We must demonstrate that the Democrat Party policies of socialism and dependency on government handouts offer the pathway to poverty, while Republican Party principles of hard work, personal responsibility, getting a good education and ownership of homes and small businesses offer the pathway to prosperity.

The Republicans Next Leader

In a time when we have elected the most liberal President in history and are spending more money on social programs than any other president the Republicans are looking for their next Reaganesque leader.

Lets start with Newt Gingrich, he had his opportunity and failed us miserably. He forced welfare reform during the Clinton years then sat back on his tush and enjoyed his power. Gingrich is a clown and I don't want him as our presidential candidate. We would end up with the Obama administration in 2012. Gingrich cheated on his wife before he left her and let the juicy details out in the public. The Republican party stands for family values, I don't want my kids acting like oh Slick Willy Gingrich.

There there is Gov. Sarah Palin. I think she is great but she is a country bumpkin. She is just a normal person you would run into on the soccer field. She is not a national political figure. She speaks her mind, tells the truth, and is not interested in backroom underhanded deals. She will never be elected president, PERIOD.

Then there is Gov. Bobby Jindal. I do not know a lot about Gov. Jindal but a good friend of mine lives in Louisiana and he speaks very highly of the governor. I think he may be one of our best shots and winning in 2012. I know the speech Gov. Jindal gave a couple of nights ago was not a huge hit but is anyone going to be able to compare to the Anointed One? I think not, we do not need a great speaker, we need a great doer!

And last but not least there is Michael Steel. I personally love Lt. Gov. Steel. The problem I see with Steel is the racist left is going to say the Republicans are putting up a "Token" because the Democrats put up a black first, Obama. For some reason it is impossible to be a black Republican. They are instantly attacked on many fronts and often called awful names. When Michael Steel was running for senate some clowns threw Oreo cookies at him. The nerve of some people. If you recall it was people like Robert Byrd, Democrat, WV and Al Gores father that opposed the civil rights act. A little known fact is Martin Luther King was a REPUBLICAN! That right my friends Dr. King supported the party that stood by him.

The Republican Party has lost its way and desperately needs a leader. I just hope we are smart enough and dedicated enough to choose a leader that is a true conservative. No more McCain's! We can not afford 2 terms of Obama.

The Iraq War Part II

Obama has decided to put an end to combat operations in Iraq August 31st 2010. Obama is expected to deliver a speech Friday at Camp Lejeune, N.C, where he will order an immediate draw down of the 142,000 Marines and Army personnel in Iraq. Obama told congress there will be between 35,000 and 50,000 troops left in Iraq to assist with training, advising and engaging in limited counter-terrorist operations.

The president told congress troops that remain in Iraq after Aug. 31, 2010, will carry out new missions and will be trained and organized in a way that de-emphasizes combat-readiness and intensifies the focus on these three missions:

* Train, equip and advise Iraqi security forces
* Support civilian operations in Iraq aimed at reconstruction, redevelopment
and political reconciliation
* Conduct targeted counter-terrorism missions.

The president told congress his plan, which ends combat operations 19 months after he was sworn in as president, represented the consensus advice he received from Defense Secretary Robert Gates; the Joints Chiefs of Staff; Army Gen. Ray Ordierno, the top military commander in Iraq, and Gen. David Petraeus, head of U.S. Central Command.

If Gen. Petraeus told Obama the Iraqis are ready to stand on their own then I have to believe they are. There is no greater patriot or warrior than Gen Petraeus. He has lead this war for several years now and has poured his life into the war since it began. I have to believe no one wants to see victory in Iraq more than Gen Petraeus. Part of me is very skeptical though, the Democrats in congress have been saying what a blunder this war was and that it was un-winnable. If the Iraqis stand on their own feet and democracy prospers, the defeatist Democrats look like unpatriotic fools. I am just afraid those who insisted Bush and this war were a failure will do anything in their power to see the Iraqis fail.

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS

Obama Will Seek Assault WeIapon Ban

It looks like Obama, the great friend of gun owners, has started to show his true colors. I knew it was only a matter of time before the anti gun lobby would come knocking for repayment of the votes they gave him.

The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric "Coward" Holder said.

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstate the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

"I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum." Holder said.

HELLO Mr. Eric "Coward" Holder, law abiding citizens are not part of the illegal gun trade and they do not participate in violent crimes. It is proven when law abiding citizens are disarmed the criminals become embolden and commit more violent crimes. IMHO it should be mandatory that all law abiding citizens be armed. I feel if criminals knew every citizen had a gun they would be less likely to rob, rape, or assault them.

I personally do not see any use in an assault weapon. I do not and will not own one. That said I would defend the rights of others to own any type of gun they desire. The second amendment does not say "The right to keep and bear any arms except assault weapons". It says "the right to keep and bear arms", PERIOD!

If we sit by and allow the government to take our assault weapons today, tomorrow it will be all semi auto's, then it will be everything that holds more than one round. If you think I am an alarmist just ask the Brits. If the socialist on the left could enslave us today they would but they know we would never stand for it. They have figured out taking small freedoms from us does not cause alarm. The end result is the same, it takes longer but there is little resistance. They are going to continue to steal our freedoms until we finally get tired of it and elect people that respect and adhere to the constitution.

Tuna Fishing

Yesterday was the first day of tuna season, for me anyhow. We went out of Oregon Inlet in NC for a slow but rewarding day of fishing. I am lucky enough to have a small group of good friends that gets together a few times a year for some tuna fishing. Usually when it is cold we go south to Carolina and as the water warms we go out of Ocean City.
Yesterday was a very cold day. In the pictures below you will see the ice on the side of the boat prior to launch. We were all bundled up and headed out 40nm looking for some warm water. The best we could do was 65 but we managed to get a really nice fish in the boat and tonight he will be on the grill.
Below are a few pictures for you to enjoy. There is some blood but don't worry, its not from Humpy.
I will continue to post pictures and stories of our adventures. In October we are all going elk hunting in Colorado for 14 days.

DOW Dives Again

Oh hell who am I kidding the DOW is on a fast track to 6000. When Obama took office we heard the earth would stop warming, the war was going to be over, and the economy would automatically rebound. Well it is colder in Delawre than Bismark North Dakota. I think someone forgot to send the memo to the stock market letting them know our savior is here.

Recession and financial fears sent the Dow and S&P 500 on Monday to their worst closing levels since 1997 as the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression has now erased more than a decade's worth of gains on Wall Street.

I still have confidence in our system but Obama needs to stop giving away money we do not have to people that do not deserve it. The system works if liberal democrats will stop trying to interfere with capitalism. It works if you stop regulating it.

We will see where this slide stops. Hopefully the end of the week will show some improvements. More to come...................

Delaware To Accept "Spendulus" Funds

When I heard some governors were in DC meeting with Obama about the "spendulus" package I must admit I got a little excited thinking Markell might actually refuse the money. Shame on me! I knew better. Markell is already there with an armored truck to bring the money back to Delaware. He has planned to use the funds to help shrink the states' project budget shortfall or lower the unemployment rate.

Where does this fool think the money is coming from? Does he think its free money? Markell you are a jackass!

In meetings and a "governors-only luncheon," Markell said he has been listening to and discussing ways Delaware can bolster its economy. Last week, Markell announced a state partnership with a think tank that supports green policies in a move that he said will not only focus on the environment but also create companies in that sector.

Here we go spending money on "green" policies. Markell is a buffoon. He is going to continue the failed liberal policies of the last administration. It is very easy to balance the budget. I am forced to do it every month. I do not have ties to China or the Obama administration so the monies I make have to last me an entire month. Markell thinks he can continue to tax and spend until Obama comes to his rescue.

There are a couple of good governors out there though. The governors from the following states are opposed to the stimulus: Alaska, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina and Idaho

Gov. Haley Barbour, R-Miss., has said he is considering turning down millions of dollars in unemployment aid because it would force his state to raise taxes when the stimulus money runs out by putting in place a tax on employers. Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal also objects to strings attached to stimulus dollars, as well as the plan's overall approach to dealing with the economic crisis. "I don't think the best way to do that is for the government to tax and borrow more money," Jindal said Sunday on "Meet the Press" on NBC. "If all they do is borrow federal money and give it to the states, all we're really doing is delaying the inevitable. We're eventually going to have to make these hard choices anyway."

Folks this state is headed for the worst economic disaster in history. If Markell continues to spend and does not cut spending and state employees we are going to experience our own "Great Depression".

Big Tax Cuts Coming By April

Thanks to Dear Leader(I borrowed that term from my dear friend Mike Church) the Treasury has instructed employers to cut withholding taxes by April 1st.
He said the Treasury Department has begun directing employers to reduce the amount of taxes withheld from people's paychecks in accordance with the new law, and that in six weeks, a typical family will start taking home at least $65 more every month.
"Never before in our history has a tax cut taken effect faster or gone to so many hardworking Americans," Obama said Saturday in his weekly radio and Internet address.

The average employee will see about a $13 a week increase in their paycheck. That's right, if you save your "tax cut" for 104 weeks, 2 years, you will be able to buy a Sony Bravia 42" TV. Or for you hunting types if you save your "tax cut" for 6 weeks you can buy a box of shells for your favorite rifle.

Now if you recall during the campaign Dear Leader Obama told us he was going to give a tax cut to 95% of working Americans. Now in his defense he never said how much of a tax cut. I am not an ungrateful person but $13, really????

Obama says his signature "Making Work Pay" tax break will affect 95 percent of working families.

The $400 credit for individuals is to be doled out through the rest of the year. Couples are slated to get up to $800. Most workers are to see about a $13 per week increase in their take-home pay. In 2010, the credit would only be about $7.70 a week.

I Hope we do not see a bunch of people running out buying unnecessary items with their new found fortunes. I would advise the 95% of people that are receiving this windfall to save it for a rainy day, or a happy meal for their child.

Letter from Senator Kaufman

Sen. Kaufman just confirmed he is a clown. He and Carper should consider touring with a circus. I told Senator Kaufman to not send me one of his form letters telling me how much smarter he is than I. News flash Carper and Kaufman, I am smarter than you. I support my family, I have no debt, and I have money in the bank. Maybe you should consider taking lessons from me and the millions of others that can operate in the black. The federal government has been operating in the red for years. In fact I just read a story on Fox that stated the Federal Government has run up a 2.5 trillion dollar debt in the past 2 years. Now Obama, Carper, Kaufman, and the other idiots in Washington just added another trillion to it.

Below is the letter from Kaufman informing me I am not intelligent enough to understand the complexities of the stimulus bill.

February 20, 2009

Dear Mr. James:

Thank you for e-mailing me regarding the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. I was glad to have your input on this critical issue. As you know, we face the most significant economic challenges since the Great Depression. We have the advantage of history. History shows us that in times of crisis, government must act decisively and quickly. The American people need help, and we could not wait any longer.

The economic crisis is enormously complicated, and no economist can truthfully claim to know the full measure of our challenges. But, in a sense, it is simple. After a month where we lost 600,000 jobs - 20,000 per day - this economic recovery package delivers what we need: at least 3.5 million jobs. There is no higher priority than getting our citizens back to work, and this bill will create or save an estimated 11,000 jobs in Delaware as it begins to put the economy back on track.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act passed the Congress with my support and was signed into law by the President February 17th. It contains money for infrastructure, alternative energy, education, and health care, and includes tax cuts for most families and businesses. It has the broad support of America's mayors, governors, the Chamber of Commerce, and organized labor. There is not one earmark. And importantly, it includes an historic level of transparency and oversight.

This bill was needed to jolt the economy back to life, to convince businesses to invest and hire and encourage consumers to spend and be confident. We had to act to reverse the slide of our economy into a deeper recession.

Sincerely,

Edward E. Kaufman
United States Senator

Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon

Mayor Dixon was scheduled to attend a meeting at the White House today but has been uninvited.

Dixon spokesman Scott Peterson says "a staffer at the U.S. Conference of Mayors contacted the mayor's office Thursday afternoon and said that Dixon could not attend today's gathering".

If you recall Dixon was indicted in January on 12 criminal counts, including stealing gift cards intended for the poor. She, like all Democrats, has professed her innocence.

It is safe to assume Obama does not want to associate with low level criminals. The amount of theft was not in the 6 figures so she is a petty thief by Obama's standards. The Mayor just chose the wrong line of crime. If she had not paid her taxes she would have been appointed to a high level cabinet position. I am sure the Mayor simply misunderstood who the gift cards were intended for.

This is another fine example of the hypocrisy in American politics. If this lady were a Republican she would have been forced out of office the day she was indicted. The argument would have been "she can not govern effectively with these charges over her head".

SHAMEFUL!

Hold(er) On There Mister!

I have been avoiding this story because no matter what I say it is going to be racist. Oh wait I am a coward for not talking about it. But Jesse and Al will demonstrate in front of my house if I mention it. I am confused.

I work with blacks, I am friends with blacks, I eat lunch with blacks, I even invited, and she accepted, a black girl to my families house for Thanksgiving. The same black girl that came to my families house for Thanksgiving follows me and my daughter around doing her hair for pageants. I actually consider her family.

All that said, Eric Holder thinks I am a coward because she and I do not discuss the fact that she is black and I am white on a regular basis. The last I heard blacks wanted equal treatment and did not like their color being pointed out all the time.

Here is the real deal. No matter how much time passes white people will always be held accountable for slavery. No matter what whites do there will always be blacks that say what they are doing is wrong. There is no solution to this "issue".

In case you did not realize it, I have never owned a slave. There is no blacks living today that were slaves. I am not sorry for slavery. I think it was wrong but there is nothing I can do about. If I could travel in a time machine to when slavery was "popular" I would not own a slave.

Did you know free blacks in the 1800's owned black slaves? It is also a common misconception that white Americans went to Africa with traps and trapped "slaves". Truth be told black Africans sold slaves to us. They rounded them up and brought them to us. We are not the first people to own slaves. Slavery has been around as long as mankind.

Here is an interesting article about slavery in 2008. That's right, when evil whitey abolished slavery the world did not become a slave free place. There is actually more slaves now than there was during that dark time in our history.

http://matadorchange.com/10-shocking-facts-about-global-slavery-in-2008/

I think its ironic that Holder says we should discuss our cowardly ways during "Black History Month".

People like Holder, Sharpton, and Jackson perpetuate racial issues for financial gain. Until race is no longer profitable we are going to continue to have these types of issues. I think Holder was simply opening the door for reparation talks. If you think Obama does not think this is the perfect time to punish whites for something that happened 150 years ago you are kidding yourself. Holders nomination fits right in with Obama's past. His wife thinks this is "a down right evil country", his pastor Rev Wright said "god damn America", and Holder says we are "cowards". How we managed to elect a person that hates this country and surrounds himself with people that have nothing positive to say about this country amazes me.

Folks we are in for a rough 4 years. The only thing we have going for us is Obama's policies will fail, the question is will they fail before the next election. I hope for the sake of this country they do. If not we may never recover for the massive handouts Obama is signing.

More on Rahm Enanuel's Tax "Issue"

It's not really an "issue" unless you are a Republican. The Democrats that Obama has appointed simply "overlooked" their tax issues. I have been doing more research into Wrong Emanuel's living conditions and it appears he has been renting a room and camping out on a futon in the basement of Rep. Rose DeLauro (D-Conn..

That is very important because it turns out the residence in question isn't zoned for rentals.

That sent Emanuel's colleague and alleged landlord out to deny the charges. Rep. Rose DeLauro (D-Conn.) told her hometown paper, "Hey, it's cool. He doesn't rent from me. He lives there for free!"

"I wanted to make clear: we have no separate apartment in our DC house, no rental apartment; all our bedrooms and living areas are part of the house and accessible. They are often used by close family and friends. In mid-November, I got a call from the DC zoning office indicating that somebody had lodged a complaint and asked to inspect the property, which we welcomed. My husband was there for the inspection, which was uneventful and we did not hear again from the zoning office."

"Hey its cool"? Really, is this chick in the ghetto or a Congresswoman? I expect to hear "it's cool" from my 10 year old son. It speaks of the quality of people we continue to elect. How can you expect them to pay their taxes when they speak like that in public?

Hospitality between colleagues is not prohibited by House ethics rules, but a gift of this size would have required a written waiver from the Standards Committee, which neither party has yet produced.

But, let's not stop there with the questionable ethics. DeLauro is married to one Stan Greenberg, a Democratic pollster who made a ton of money from work sent to him by his "renter", I mean friend. Living for free in the home of a Democratic pollster whom you employed as both a Congressman and as chair of the DCCC might run up against the ethics rules of the "most open and transparent" administration in history. That revolving door Obama keeps talking about is actually the private entrance to Emanuel's digs.

Let's say the Obama administration overlooks the ethics lapses— after all, they've set the bar so high, that each failure to reach it is simply a reminder of their superiority, according to spokesman Robert Gibbs. What of the pesky tax issue?

To most people, this is “imputed income” — non-financial gifts or compensation that should be reported to the IRS. Emanuel and DeLauro defend their conduct by saying that House ethics rules permit “hospitality between colleagues.”

Once again folks if these type of "friendships" were coming out of the Bush administration the Democrats' would be up in arms. They would demand people be held accountable. Let's say Tom Delay allowed Karl Rove to stay rent free in his DC home. The Dems would have demanded Delay step down and they would have wanted Roves head on a silver platter. The media would have talked about it until the second coming of Christ.

When I started writing this blog I vowed to point out the hypocrisy that plagues our system. I don't know that my little voice will ever cause a change but I will continue to do my part. Have you done your part today?

Gas Prices

Like many I watch the daily cost of a barrel of oil. Like many I have noticed the price continues to fall. Like many I also noticed the price for a gallon of fuel continues to rise.

WHY?

The local price is rapidly approaching $2.00/gallon as the price of a barrel of oil is rapidly falling toward $30/barrel.

Here is today price:
Nymex Crude Future 34.60 -.33 -.94

Maybe Mr. Markell has something to say about this? I will be calling his office to request they lower the State tax rate on a gallon of fuel. With the economy the way it is we need all the help we can get. I am sure Mr. Markell does not want to see another Delawarean lose their job.

What say you Mr. Markell?

Tight Budget For Delaware Educators

As home purchases continue to fall and building has all but stopped the bloated Delaware government is looking for ways to cut spending. Instead of cutting positions or wasteful welfare programs the genius' in Dover have decided to propose cuts in the educational system.

The state is facing a $606 million dollar deficit and educators fear an increase in class size and elimination of after school programs.

"Everything is on the table," Secretary of Education Lillian Lowery said.

When Gov. Ruth Ann Minner released her proposed fiscal 2010 budget last month, she suggested cutting $53.4 million from public education. Since then revenue projections have declined further, causing many Delaware educators to fear bigger cuts when Gov. Jack Markell releases his proposed budget next month.

Kevin Carson, Woodbridge School District superintendent, said class sizes also will be affected by the influx of private school students whose parents can no longer afford tuition.

"We've started to see that impact in our district already," he said.

But never fear, the Obama Stimulus Package is coming to the rescue!!!

The federal economic stimulus package, which was signed Tuesday by President Barack Obama, includes a $54 billion stabilization fund intended to prevent public sector layoffs, mostly in schools. A portion of the stabilization fund is set aside to reward states, districts, schools and educational nonprofit organizations for setting high standards and closing achievement gaps. Delaware's share of the fund is estimated at $135 million, with $110.3 million designed for education and $24.5 million for public safety, schools or other basic state services, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. By accepting the federal grant money, the state is barred from cutting school funding below 2006 levels.

Lowery said Monday it was premature to say what specific affect the stimulus package would have on Delaware's public education system and whether it would avert some of the education cutbacks for next fiscal year.

"Until we see exactly what the language is surrounding the stimulus package, we can't make assertions about how we would use the money," she said.

Public education accounts for about one-third of the state's overall budget. I think it should account for about 50%. There are kids getting out of high school that are unable to read or write. Yes I personally know a few of them. I find it shameful that a child would be "pushed" through the education system without basic skills. The districts receive money based on graduation levels so the more illiterate children they "graduate" each year the higher their budget is. The Governor needs to cut some of the waste and fraud out of the budget and no cut the education system.

Mr. Governor this blog can be your best friend or your biggest enemy. The choice is yours. Act like a responsible person that care for this state and I will sing your praise from the hilltop. Act like Minner and I will blog you everyday.

Letter from Tom Carper

Once again Senator Tom Carper sent me a letter telling me how much smarter he is than I am and how I am too uninformed to understand the full impact of the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act". I thought it was call the "stimulus" bill but that is too simple for such intelligent people I guess. The liberals had to change the name of it so us dummies would need their help understanding it.

Enjoy!

February 17, 2009

Dear Mr. James:

Thank you for contacting my office and letting me know of your concerns regarding the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. I appreciate hearing your views on this important matter. I apologize for the length of this response, but the issues before us are complex, and I hope that you'll take a few minutes to read my response.

Let me begin by saying that I have heard from hundreds of Delawareans who, like yourself, expressed to me their opposition to this legislation, known to most as the stimulus package. Many people conveyed their concern with the overall size of the economic recovery proposal and contended that some of the spending provisions would not create jobs in the near-term. I share many of those same views, and agree with you that the bill that came to the Senate floor was far from perfect. Its cost was approaching a trillion dollars, and a number of its provisions did not directly stimulate the economy, create jobs, or start us on the long road to economic recovery. They shouldn't have been included in this proposal in the first place. But rather than accepting the bill as it was, I went to work with a bipartisan group of a dozen or so senators in an effort to bring common sense and purpose to the debate and to make the proposal - not a perfect one - but a better one.

As I'm sure you know, the challenges facing our economy are like nothing that our nation - and other nations -- have seen since the Great Depression. In the last year, Americans have lost over 3 million jobs including 1.8 million in the last three months alone, bringing our national unemployment rate to 7.6 percent with the worst still to come. The ongoing downturn in the housing market has resulted in a tidal wave of foreclosures and delinquencies, flooding our communities with thousands of blighted, boarded up homes. Moreover, as millions of Americans have witnessed the value of their homes, stocks, and pensions drop, consumers have hunkered down and largely stopped spending, making it even more difficult to lift our economy out of its deep recession. In response, leading economists from all sides of the political spectrum, from Alan Blinder to Martin Feldstein to Mark Zandi, have made it clear that our federal government has to act and act now.

During most recessions since World War II, the efforts by the Federal Reserve to reduce interest rates were generally far more effective in encouraging economic recovery than most actions taken by Congress. In fact, the Fed's ability to cut interest rates, often referred to as monetary policy, has helped to end every post-WWII recession within less than a year. The current recession, however, just entered its 15th month, and the Federal Reserve has exhausted its primary tool by lowering interest rates to essentially zero. Unfortunately, that has not done the job, and it has become necessary for Congress and the President to act. A wide cross-section of economists argue that sound, targeted fiscal policy from our executive and legislative branches can help complement the efforts of the Federal Reserve in order to reverse this economic downturn and eventually restore growth to avoid a prolonged recession.

In response, several weeks ago, the Obama administration and the 111th Congress began crafting the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to provide a combination of federal spending, tax cuts, and tax incentives to create jobs, promote investment, and help states like Delaware address their budget shortfalls and meet the growing needs of their citizens. At the same time, the legislation was intended to advance vital public policy goals like reducing harmful emissions, promoting energy independence, rebuilding our nation's decaying infrastructure and schools, and overhauling our inefficient health care system.

Many constituents, like you, have flooded my office with phone calls, emails and letters to say that they believed the measure was flawed and misguided. I listened carefully to these concerns, and want to let you know that I agreed with many of them. The legislation passed by the House of Representatives on January 29th along with the initial bill that emerged from the Senate Appropriations Committee was less than perfect. I have long believed that if something isn't perfect, we should try to make it better, and that's exactly what I set out to do.

For the better part of a week, I worked with a bipartisan group, led by Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), to pare back a very substantial amount of money-$110 billion- in provisions that, while meritorious, did not belong in a bill whose main goals are economic recovery and job creation. We sought to make sure that more of the stimulus package was timely, targeted, and temporary, and that more of its spending provisions, as well as its tax cuts and tax incentives were better focused on creating jobs now and on producing real economic improvement soon. Our compromise agreement trimmed the bloated legislation from the House and Senate Committees to under $800 billion in targeted federal assistance over the next two years - roughly 60 percent spending and 40 percent tax cuts. While the Senate adopted the Nelson-Collins compromise on February 10th, that compromise was still far from perfect, and a House-Senate conference was formed to make further improvements.

The final version of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that emerged from the conference committee includes tax cuts for more than 95 percent of American working families: up to $400 for individuals and $800 for married couples. The bill is expected to create an estimated 3.5 million jobs -- including 11,000 in Delaware -- by putting Americans to work to begin rebuilding our nation's crumbling infrastructure, including roads, bridges, ports, railways, waterways, mass transit, and water and sewer systems. The bill invests in clean energy, energy efficiencies, and electric grid upgrades - which will not only reduce our energy costs and clean our nation's air, but will also make America more energy independent. This legislation provides energy tax incentives for the manufacturing and production of wind, biofuels and other renewable sources of energy that are crucial to creating green jobs and making Delaware's offshore wind farm competitive. The bill also includes the critical extension of emergency unemployment benefits in areas of high unemployment, while increasing food stamps benefits -- two temporary measures that most economists agree are both highly effective as stimulus.

Moreover, the legislation targets relief to recently unemployed workers to continue receiving affordable health insurance through COBRA, providing much needed assistance to some of the most vulnerable individuals and families affected by the economic crisis. The bill also makes possible important investments in health information technology in doctors' offices and hospitals across America - much like we've done in our V.A. system - saving lives and money while enhancing the productivity of health care providers in our country. In addition, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act helps states that are being crushed under the cost of their Medicaid health care systems for low-income families without health care coverage. And, it also provides almost $54 billion for the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund to the 46 states, like Delaware, that are facing enormous budget deficits this year and next. These vital funds will help keep the size of classes from growing even larger, make much-needed repairs in many of our schools, and continue to provide essential community services like law enforcement and fire protection.

Finally, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act attempts to address the root cause of the current economic downturn -- the housing crisis - by overhauling an ineffective homeowner refinancing program adopted last year, so that distressed Americans facing the prospect of foreclosure can have a more realistic and viable option to avoid foreclosure. In addition, the final version of the bill provides for a first-time homebuyer tax credit of $8,000 through December 31, 2009 that - coupled with 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage rates approaching 5 percent and much lower home prices -should help to jumpstart the housing market this year.

The American people have entrusted the Congress and the President with the responsibility to set aside politics and do what we believe is needed to strengthen the pillars of our nation's economy. Americans don't care if our ideas are liberal or conservative. Rather, they want us to work together to figure out what will work to pull us back from the precipice that we face and put our nation back on the path to recovery.

No one is pretending that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is perfect. No piece of legislation whose scope is that large will be. There are provisions I would like to add, and - frankly -some that I would like to remove; however, I do believe that our bipartisan efforts succeeded in making the bill better by reducing its overall cost and by focusing on putting Americans back to work on projects and initiatives that are worth doing. Ultimately, I believe in the resiliency of the American people and in our small state. I remain confident that as we now turn our attention to fixing our banking system, our economy eventually will emerge from this recession stronger, more competitive, and ready to continue leading the global economy in the 21st century.

Again, I apologize for the length of this response, and I do thank you for sharing your thoughts with me on this critical issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions or comments about this or any other matter of importance to you and to our nation.

Sincerely,

Tom Carper

United States Senator

Another down day for the DOW

On the day our new president signed the $787 billion dollar stimulus package the DOW fell another 298 points. I am not sure how long it is going to take for the stimulus to start working but if it does not happen soon there will be no DOW left for me to report on.

I am afraid in a year or so people are going to be wishing we were governed by that dummy Bush again. Things are very depressing and I am afraid they are only going to get worse.

?????Rahm Emanuel May Have Tax Issues?????

Rahm Emanuel may have tax issues also. Not that I would expect anything else from an Obama staffer or appointee. It has come to light that Emanuel lived in a supporters home rent free for a long period of time. The question is, did Emanuel claim it on his taxes????? If not I am sure it was just an oversight on his part. There was no criminal intent.

How is it that the majority of Obama's original selections for cabinet positions and staffers have tax issues? Is it just coming to light that Democrats are about the law and they do not pay taxes? If Bush would have appointed someone that had tax issues like this he would have been burned at the stake. But then again Bush is an evil conservative that does not care about poor black people.

More to come on Wrong Emanuel as details are released, or covered up.

Roland Burris

I knew it wouldn't be long before someone linked Roland Burris to Rod Blagojevich's corruption.

Earlier Sunday, Sen. Burris said at a press conference that he was not guilty of lying to an Illinois House panel during the impeachment of former Gov. Blagojevich after two House Republicans called for his resignation and for an outside investigation.

"Yes, I had contacts with representatives and friend of the former governor about the Senate appointment. None of it inappropriate," Burris said Sunday.

"I did not donate one single dollar nor did I raise any money or promise any favors for the governor," he said, adding that anyone who suggested otherwise was "playing partisan politics."

The freshman Democratic senator revealed over the weekend that he filed an affidavit earlier this month with the head of the impeachment committee to amend his testimony by noting that Blagojevich's brother solicited him for campaign funds to the governor's campaign.

"The situation was this: Rob called me in October and as we said in the affidavit, that we would ... I advised him that I can't raise him any money because I am raising money for other candidates, and to call me back after the election," he told reporters Sunday.

"That's what you all are looking at as professionals. Let me say to you as a witness on the stand, I was answering questions that were asked of me," he told reporters, saying that he followed the line of questioning when it went in another direction.

Then Sen Burris said ooops, I want a do over...........

"I wish to supplement my answer with other events that I have been able to recall, to make certain the record is complete. ... I recall that Governor Blagojevich's brother, Rob Blagojevich, called me three times to seek my assistance in fund-raising for Governor Blagojevich," he wrote.

Burris said he declined to do so because it would look like he was trying to win favor.

"I was asked to raise money by the governor's brother and made it unequivocally clear to him that it would be inappropriate and pose a major conflict because I was interested in the Senate vacancy," he told FOX News in a statement.

Roland, Roland, Roland........ You sir are about to be up a creek. I hope these Democratic senators that confirmed you have your back when Fitzgerald comes after you. Maybe Obama will fire Fitzgerald and claim all presidents have fired attorneys even though when Bush did it he was a criminal. If you were a Republican you would have been forced out of the senate as soon as your lies were revealed. Lucky for you just about all your fellow Democratic senators are lying thief's also.

Stimulus Part II

Last night we as Republicans were screwed by 3 RINO's, Specter, Snowe, and Collins. I often wonder what makes some of these people do the things they do. Why would Specter, Snowe, and Collins be so willing to pole vault across the aisle and cozy up to the Dems that have sworn to defeat them. I have a logical explanation, Reid and Pelosi have promised to keep the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee off their back during the next election cycle.

In case you don’t know what the DCCC is, they are a committee that selects the person(s) that will run against Republicans in the elections. They committee is ran by people like Rahm Emmanuel. The committee runs the vetting process and selects “the best candidate” to run in Republican districts. They have been pretty successful in the last 2 elections.

Considering all 3 of the sell outs are in Democratic strong holds they have to be very concerned about their future political career. It only makes sense that in order to get “bipartisan” support for the Spendulus bill Harry Reid would make some kind of shady deal with these clowns. If I know Reid, and I know Reid, he had his fingers crossed behind his back as he was making the deal. The sooner the Republicans realize the Dems play to win, the better off we would all be. I just hope the Democrats are able to find very strong candidates to run against and defeat these 3. I am sick of their liberal ways and I am ready for them to get out of my party. When our elected officials stop working for us and are ONLY concerned about their reelection, they need to get out of office.

We are at a pivotal point in the democracy, the complacency phase, and we cannot afford anyone in our party that is not 100% committed to our Constitution. Typically democracies only last 200-300 years. We are there folks, we have to elect people that love this democracy, not people that want to change it into a European country.

Sen. Judd Gregg

Last evening I wrote an email to Sen. Judd Gregg thanking him for withdrawing his name from the Commerce Sec position. Sen Judd Gregg said he could not get on board with Obama's policies and serving in the cabinet went against everything he believed in.

A day after dropping out of cabinet contention, Sen. Judd Gregg says he will vote against the $787 billion stimulus package.

Gregg said Friday the package contains a great deal of money that isn't well spent. He said he can support a robust stimulus package that focuses more on shoring up the real estate market and keeping people in their homes. He said it also should have focused more aggressively on small business tax breaks.

Gregg said the amount of money isn't the issue. Rather, he said it is the underlying policy.

Senator Gregg, thank you sir. You are a true patriot with the best interest of this country in mind. You deserve an award.

Now can you work on the liberal senators in the Republican party? Start with Spector.

Senate to vote on stimulus

In about an hour from now the senate is to vote on the stimulus bill. Nancy Pelosi crammed the bill through the house so she could get on to her tax pay funded trip to Europe to meet the Pope. She is going to receive an award. Thats right an award from the head of the Catholic church that does not support abortion. What kind of award could she possible be receiving? Last time I checked she wants no restrictions on tax payer funded abortions. That is another post at some other time. We have stimulus to worry about today.

Our only hope is that a conservative was able to talk some sense 2 of the 3, Specter, Snowe, or Collins. If that does not happen by 700pm we will have the largest spending bill in US history laying at our feet.

SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!!

"Un" Fairness Doctrine

The liberals are now in power and they have 14 years of catching up to do. They have decided there are too many conservative talk shows on the radio. It is unfair and the liberal talk show host do not have an opportunity to get air time. I know why and if they would listen to me we could end the debate today, PEOPLE DO NOT LISTEN TO LIBERAL TALK SHOWS BECAUSE THEY SUCK! There are plenty of airwaves out there to broadcast your hate. Liberal talk shows fail because they do not have listeners not because they do not have a platform. Putting liberals on with people like Rush will just cause Rush to retire and the now liberal show will fail.

Below is a story from www.foxnews.com

A political battle is brewing over control of the radio airwaves as Democrats consider pushing for the revival of the Fairness Doctrine, an FCC policy that requires broadcast stations to provide opposing views on controversial issues of public importance.

Democratic lawmakers who support the doctrine say it will help increase the number of liberal shows in a landscape dominated by conservative talk radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh.

"I absolutely think it's time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves," Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., told liberal radio host Bill Press last week. She said she expects hearings soon on reviving the policy, which was introduced in 1949 and abolished in 1987.

Stabenow's husband, Tom Athans, is and has been an executive at several liberal radio talk groups.

But Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe said radio programming should be based on what brings in listeners and advertisers.

"I can't think of anything worse than to have government in a position to dictate the content of information going over public radio," said Inhofe, a Republican. "The whole idea is that it has to be market driven. We have a lot of progressive or liberal radio shows but nobody listens to them and every time one tries to get on, they are not successful."

Americans with guns

As gun loving people in the US started to realize exactly what we had elected on Nov 5th panic started to set in. Gun dealers can not keep "assault rifles" in stock. It is also nearly impossible to find any .223 ammo. I have a friend who's family owns a gun store and a family member that owns a gun store. They both told me since the election they can not keep a gun in stock that holds over 5 shells.

Not only is there a gun shortage the gun purchase forms required by the ATF when a gun dealer sells a weapon (ATF FORM 4473) have completely run out, nationwide, and the ATF has allowed gun dealers to actually photocopy the things, in order to accommodate Americans who are rushing to arm themselves.

The standard explanation is that Americans are afraid of what this socialist Congress and president will do to deprive Americans of their second amendment right to keep and bear arms. This is surly part of the reason for the unprecedented sales but I think the American people are preparing themselves to over throw their government if things get too bad. I believe the American people have drawn a line in the sand and are daring the federal government to cross it.
The American people are saying “We are going to give this socialists administration a chance,
but if you attempt to deprive us of our constitutional right to keep and bear arms, you are going to have a fight on your hands".

I hope I am wrong but there have been too many things said by this administration that lead me to believe I am not. Obama has made many references to using US troops for population control in the event of "social unrest" or acts of "civil disorder". It all stinks of socialist Russian type control if you ask me.

The politics in this country are cyclical. We have some liberal leaders, then some conservative leaders but Obama does not fit the MO of the typical liberal leader. He has bought in to the "Anointed One" idea that people like Chris Mathews has been spewing. If Bush would have laid his hands on a supporter in a crowd like he were a god healing someone the liberals would have gone crazy. Obama does it and Chris Mathews gets a warm tingly feeling running up and down his leg.

Watch out people! Other countries have been led down this road like blind sheep and the people did not realize what was happening until it was too late.

Judd Gregg

I am very happy to report Sen Judd Gregg acted like a Republican. Below is a story from Fox News about Gregg's decision to withdraw his name for Commerce Secretary.

Republican Sen. Judd Gregg withdrew his nomination to be President Obama's commerce secretary on Thursday, citing "irresolvable conflicts" over issues like the economic stimulus package and the Census.

In doing so, the New Hampshire senator became the first Cabinet-level nominee to withdraw his name in protest.

"It has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me," Gregg said in a written statement.

The Iraq War

Every since we went into Iraq the liberals (that voted to give Bush the authority to use force) have been complaining about how bad the war is. All we heard from the main stream media was how poorly the war was being run, how many soldiers were lost, and how it was a waste of money. I will never forget watching the news as the American death toll in Iraq rose. The MSM could not wait for the 3000th death. They salivated daily as we passed 2900 deaths. We heard how the cost of the war was ruining our country. That the cost would be passed on to our children. They went on and on.

Then something happened that put an end to the war. On January 20th 2009 all our troops were teleported back to the US, the monies that were spent were redeposited in the Bank of Obama, oh wait that didn't happen? We are still fighting a war? That is not possible, I watched the news today and I didn't hear a word about the war. As a matter of fact I have not heard a word about the war since Obama took over. Is it possible all the bad things there were happening under Bush's watch stopped as soon as Obama took over? I think not, we all know the media is pro Obama and no matter how bad things may go the MSM will never report a single bad day in Iraq.

This my fellow Americans highlights the bias in the American media. Someday the average American will stop subscribing to the liberal filth tthe MSM spews in defense of ALL liberals.

Tim "Turbo Tax" Geithner

Yesterday during a press conference when asked what the administrations plan were for the TARP funds. President Obama said "I do not want to preempt my Secretary of the Treasury, he is going to lay out our plan in great detail". Then today Tim "Turbo Tax" Geithner came out and informed all of us he was not going to give us the details of the plan and the market dropped 382 points. Why will T3 Geithner not give us the details of the plan he and the "Anointed One" developed? I will tell you why, they have no plan. They do not have the ability to develop a plan and neither of them have the testicular fortitude to admit they are in above their head.

But coming to our rescue is Barney "there's a prostitution ring being run in my basement that I don't know about" Frank (D-Mass.). He is chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.
We have no plan but Barney has some real concerns about how the money will be spent. His concerns are the lack of any money to help homeowners facing foreclosure, the lack of complete information as to where the TARP money has gone and the need for tougher restrictions on compensating executives working at companies that have accepted financial help. Ahhhh so we have a plan to limit compensation packages. It all comes down to power folks. The Democrats, the same ones that got us into this situation, are only interested in power and control.

I think we call all agree that the economy started down this bad road when the housing market fell. Now back in 2002 the Republicans and Bush wanted investigation into the federal home loan industry. On the floor on the house Barney Frank asked the heads of Freddie and Fanny if they felt the federal home loan banks were substantially under regulated, they said "no" and he said "I would tend to agree with you".

Folks we are heading down a slippery slope. Barney, Obama, Geithner, and many more in this administration are failing us. We have a group of people running this country that should not be running a Wendy's. This group consist of an inexperienced leader, tax frauds, people that have received special loans while heading the banking committee, and all other sorts of criminals.

Lets wake up people.

Liberal Leadership in Delaware

After years of being run by tax and spend liberals the states carefree spending habits are finally catching up to them. The union workers in New Castle Country that supported the liberal leaders and policies are now being asked to take unpaid furloughs for 24 work days next year and could see merit pay increases frozen under a plan laid out by County Executive Chris Coons.

Coons met with union leaders on Monday and informed them layoffs would be coming if the plan is not accepted.

Union leaders are expected to meet with their members this week and provide a response to Coons by 2-17-2009. The county budget must be complete by the end of the month.

“It is necessary that all unions ratify these proposals,” Coons wrote. “In the absence of these proposals, I will be preparing a budget submission that eliminates currently filled positions.”

It looks like the wonderful liberal leadership and unions have failed the workers again. Most liberal run states are looking for a bailout. When did it become my responsibility to bailout the mismanagement of other states? When will people realize tax cuts work every time. Tax and spend will eventually fail. The state of Delaware was flying high during the housing boom, Ruth Ann was spending like a drunken sailor, but now that things are slow they must force county workers to take furlough days.

The sad part is the people are not smart enough to vote these tax and spend liberals out of office.

Porkers "BUSTED"

I heard a lady on the Hannity show today mention a website that divulges all the financial information you could ever want to know on your representative(s) and senators. The website is
www.legistorm.com. I am amazed at the amount of money that is spent by these people, no wonder they talk about billions like we talk about dollars. Below I have detailed the amount of money each of Delaware's reps spent on travel alone.

Biden
$234,074 approved
$171,724 taken
$11,584 for staffers travel

Carper
$85,629 approved
$22,361 taken
$23,059 for staffers travel

Castle
$173,761 approved
$112,992 taken
$10,950 for staffers travel

Now I am not saying all of this travel was pleasure. I am sure the majority of it was business. I do know that when any of these guys went somewhere "stressful" like Cancun, Aspen, or Jamaica their spouses went with them. I guess they need moral support while they are there.

The site has everything from the amount spent on travel, gifts received by foreign nations, their salaries, earmarks, and financial disclosures. Legistorm is the easiest sites to navigate I have found for this information.

Israel Elections

While I get frustrated when people in other countries try to tell us who would be best to run our country, I think I am allowed to express my opinion and maybe do a little cheering at the news that with 67% of the votes counted it looks like Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party has made a strong showing.

Regardless of the final counts the Likud Party appeared to have the upper hand in forming a ruling coalition thanks to strong showing by other right-wing parties. Votes cast by soldiers from bases around Israel will not be tallied until sometime Thursday.

Bibi is quoted saying:
"With God's help, I will lead the next government," Netanyahu told a raucous crowd of cheering supporters chanting his nickname, Bibi, early Wednesday. "The national camp, led by the Likud, has won a clear advantage."

I have to agree with PM Netanyahu and say with gods help and grace a strong leader will be returned to power. The Israeli people deserve a PM that will stand up for their rights and that will support their desire to be a sovereign nation.

With Iran's repeated calls to wipe Israel off the face off the map, and their denial of the Holocaust, Israel needs the strongest leadership they can get.
