More news from the trail:
Mackey and team checked into Shaktoolik (Shak-TOO-lick) at 04:20 local time. The 40 miles took him 6 hours at about 6.5 MPH. I don't look for Mackey and team to take a break in Shktoolik. I imagine he will simply check in and ride on to Koyuk which is just 58 miles ahead.
There is still 229 miles left in the race but Mackey and team are in great position to win this race. 2nd place, Sebastian Schnuelle, left Unalakleet a full 5 hours after Mackey. Truth be known Schnuelle did not get into Unalakleet until 15 minutes after Mackey had left.
